Lights, Camera - Action!

A little bit of Hollywood style glamour was visited on the YHPSCL last friday 10th march. As round six took place on Hackney Downs we had a film crew recording the mountain bike training and racing for a film that will be used to promote the league at the upcoming Hackney Cycling Conference.  100 year four and five riders from nine schools turned up ready to try out their ready position.

Once they had signed on the riders were split into their age and gender groups and went off with coaches to learn and practise mtb techniques - following this it was time to race with year 4 girls going first over four laps of the circuit.

Lolo from Kingsmead and lena from Jubilee got stung starts and held on to come first and second whilst Justine from Grazebrook steadily worked her way up through the field to come third.

Next to ride were the year 4 boys - Arlo from Gayhurst may look small in nature but he has a big engine and he left the rest behind as he stormed off to victory, meanwhile behind him Joseph from Grazebrook lost a shoe on the first lap but remarkably continued on to gain second place closely followed by Zane from Gayhurst in third.

Next for their close up were the year five girls and the win once again went the way of the Kingsmead girls with Myesha leading from start to end. She was joined on the podium with Hanna from Jubilee and Amelie from Grazebrook in 2nd and 3rd.

The year boys race was the final race of the day and looked to be going the ay of Jubilee as Milo raced off and was quickly lapping back markers. not one for easing off he kept going hard and a mistake on a corner meant he went down and out of the race. This left the way for a trio of Millfields riders to come through to take the top three spots - well done to Jimme, Nicholas and Louis.

This leaves the table looking like this after six events with three to go -
